| New stained glass windows were installed in 1956 during the twenty golden years of Dr. Henry Hitt Crane's ministry. The Great West Window contrasts the evils of the world with the blessings of Christian living. Among the evils depicted are the atom bomb, lynchings, people being prevented from voting, and closing the door of opportunity to people because of their race. The blessings include the United Nations, free speech depicted by a minister who looks a lot like Dr. Crane speaking into a WWJ microphone, and people of different races working together. Central is intentionally and proudly a multi-racial, multi-everything church, believing that our diversity is 'God's work of art.' | ||||||||||||||||
