CENTRAL CHURCH TODAY
Rev. Edwin Rowe continues Central's prophetic leadership, emphasizing conscientious objection to the war taking place in the streets of Detroit as well as around the world.
In the photos  Rev. Rowe greets Rev. Bernice King after she preached at Central, launching a three-month celebration of 175 years in incorporation.  Below, Rev. Rowe addresses rally for locked-out Detroit newspaper workers.

Central's ministry includes
The Swords Into Plowshares Peace Center and Gallery which relates the several arts to transforming the world from one of war and violence to one of peace and justice;
Peace for Youth, which equips youth to practice nonviolent problem-solving at school and in the community; and a bag lunch program and hosting the rotating shelter for the homeless.
The Value Shop makes clothing and other essentials available to residents at affordable prices, while the Small World Shop sells handicrafts made by refugees around the world.
The church house, used by many community and service groups, currently houses the Downtown Senior Center, the Women's Justice Center, Westside Mothers, and a nursery school.
